Benefits Coverage with Unifor

FULL COVERAGE. NO INTERRUPTION.

Your current health benefits will remain in place should GardaWorld workers exercise their right to join Unifor.

In short, you do not have to worry—we have you covered.

Our approach to bargaining is different from CLAC’s or the Teamsters. It is because we are a different union. CLAC can only offer one program on benefits, whereas Unifor has the ability to bargain with your employer to increase benefits and get you and your family the best coverage.

With Unifor, members decide where to make improvements and, unlike CLAC, Unifor members are not restricted to a single plan that requires you to pay more for additional coverage.

We will maintain your existing coverage and premium levels during the transition to Unifor, plus we will begin improvements during bargaining to health benefits without increasing premiums. Members decide the areas for improvement—not union staff or an entity outside the workplace.

When making the decision on whether to move to Unifor, it is going to come down to who you believe has the strength and resources to best represent you and your co-workers as GardaWorld workers at YYC.

CLAC is a construction-based union with limited options, little experience in the aviation sector and a long history of obeying management. Unifor is a strong union that fights for its 315,000 members in every sector of the Canadian economy. We have the resources, experience and desire to fight back on behalf of our members, including at GardaWorld.

The choice is yours and we will respect it. We only encourage you to get the information you need to make an informed decision. We are available to talk anytime and welcome the opportunity.

As a union, feedback is paramount to us. We want to be in your corner and fight for the things that are important to you.

Have your say at our upcoming information sessions starting today.

Next Steps

If you have not already done so, you can sign your electronic union card below. Signing a union card is an important step towards showing support for Unifor in your workplace. All union cards are confidential. From any touchscreen device, you will be able to sign your card and pay a $5 dollar fee. The fee is a requirement of the federal labour board, not of Unifor. Once completed, you’ll be asked to verify your email address, this step will finalize your union card.
