Building on Your Momentum – Let’s Keep Pushing Forward!
Thank you to all who joined your group meet-up this week—it was a huge success! The energy, ideas, and commitment in the room showed just how ready you are to take the next steps in building a stronger workplace together.
There were great conversations about strategy and next steps, especially around how you can respectfully connect with your coworkers and encourage them to sign a confidential membership card. Every card signed brings you closer to the majority support required to file an application with the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) and secure a secret ballot vote in the workplace.
This is how you win: by talking with one another, sharing why this matters, and standing together for fairness, respect, and a real voice at work. You’re so close to having the final cards needed—let’s keep that momentum going strong.
Share Your Story – Why Do You Support Unionization?
As we continue to build momentum, one of the most powerful things we can share is your voices. Personal testimonials help show coworkers why this matters and how a union can make a real difference in the workplace.
We’re asking those of you who are willing to write a short paragraph testimonial about why you support unionization. Think of it as a few sentences about your experience at work, what you’d like to see change, the things you want to protect, and why you believe a union is the path forward.
For example, in another campaign, workers wrote about:
-
Wanting fairness in scheduling and promotions instead of favoritism.
-
Seeking better wages, respect, and job security.
-
Wanting to build a future and be heard when raising concerns.
-
Improving health and safety and ensuring management listens.
-
Protecting recall rights.
Your story doesn’t need to be long—just honest and from your perspective. These will be shared (with your permission) to help inspire and connect with others.
Testimonial Example 1
"I’ve worked at Massey Hall for over six years, and while I love being part of such a historic and vibrant venue, I’ve often felt that decisions affecting our schedules and workload are made without real input from those of us on the frontlines. Supporting a union means having a collective voice, so scheduling and workplace policies are fair, consistent, and respectful. For me, it’s about stability and dignity in the work I do every day."
Testimonial Example 2
"At Roy Thomson Hall, we put our heart into creating amazing experiences for the audience, but too often our needs as workers are overlooked. I support unionization because I want to protect the things that make this a great place to work—like teamwork and passion—while also addressing issues like job security, fair pay, and safety standards. A union gives us the chance to negotiate for what we deserve and ensure everyone is treated equally."
