F&P Manufacturing Unifor Update March 26 2024
Dear F&P Manufacturing Workers,
We are writing to express our sincere gratitude for your unwavering support during last week's mobilization for the "Vote Yes to Unifor" campaign. Your dedication and courage in standing up for your rights and improving your workplace are commendable.
It takes great courage to take a stand and advocate for change, especially in the face of uncertainty. You have shown tremendous strength and solidarity by rallying together in support of the union. Your actions have set in motion the potential for long-lasting positive changes within your workplace; for that, we thank every one of you.
We want to take this opportunity to remind you that your rights are now protected by the Freeze provision, which ensures that the employer does not violate your rights while you await the unfolding of the Labour Board process. This provision is essential in safeguarding your interests during this critical time.
We are pleased to inform you that a meeting has been scheduled for April 10, 2024, involving Unifor, F&P, and the Ontario Labour Relations Board. This meeting will provide the opportunity to address any outstanding challenges or issues and begin the process of moving toward counting the ballot box.
F&P has a challenge in place known as an 8.1 challenge: to ensure the union has met the minimum threshold of 40% of workers at F&P who have signed a confidential Unifor membership card to apply for a vote. F&P submitted that there were 821 workers at the time of application and later submitted that this number would be 813 employees at the time of the vote. Unifor submitted 355 confidential membership cards at the time of our application.
There are also outstanding challenges before the Board from the union seeking clarification of the employment status of some individuals on the list. We will work diligently to ensure the vote is counted accurately and fairly in the coming weeks. Your continued support and participation in this process are crucial, and we encourage you to stay informed and engaged as we move forward.
Once again, we express our deepest appreciation for your support and dedication to the "Vote Yes to Unifor" campaign. Together, you can create positive change and build a better future for all F&P Manufacturing workers.
If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your Unifor representatives.
In solidarity,
