Dear GardaWorld YYC workers,

WE'VE APPLIED!

This is an exciting day! Thanks to your incredible efforts, you have built the kind of majority support required to win a representation vote.

Today, Tuesday March 22, 2022, we filed an application for certification with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB).

Many of you have been anxiously waiting to join the over 14,000 aviation sector workers across Canada who already benefit from their Unifor membership with strong representation and contracts.

Many of you have said its time for change -- we are pleased to inform you that your time for change is now!

A confidential vote will likely take place in the coming weeks. The next step is for the CIRB to inform your employer and CLAC. Once this is done, they will communicate a timeline in which responses to our application for certification are due from your employer and CLAC. As soon as we have this information, we will reach out.

When the time comes, voting in favour of Unifor representation is the best step you and your co-workers can make to building a better life and workplace.

Throughout this campaign, workers at GardaWorld YYC have told us they want:

• Strong and dependable workplace representation, which has access to the education
• An improved Collective Bargaining Agreement that does not go backwards, building on the priorities of the membership
• A union that is not afraid to fight for their members and challenge the employer and CATSA

You can also expect CLAC to try to talk you out of voting to join Unifor. This is their right, of course, but they are not allowed to make threats or mislead you. We will have more to say about this and other issues in the days to come – including details of the timeline issued by the CIRB.

Workers can still sign cards to join Unifor and this will allow us to effectively communicate with more of your co-workers by both email and phone.
