Parkview Collective Bargaining Update
Meeting with the Company
As promised, we have been working hard to implement changes that we know will make an impact on the issues and concerns raised over the last 4 weeks. We have been listening and have started the ball rolling. Today we are happy to announce our members at Parkview transit are moving to the largest school bus local in Ontario, local 4268. Friday Jan 29th we served notice to bargaining to your employer and this week we will start nominations for your new bargaining committee.
The momentum around bargaining has started and there is a real buzz in the workplace. You can imagine our disappointment when we started hearing from our members that a small group of workers continue to pressure and threaten drivers into signing yet another petition to decertify, including threatening to tell the employer if drivers don’t sign the petition. This is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by Unifor.
On Monday, Unifor representative Chris Macdonald (assistant to Unifor National President Jerry Dias) along with Len Poirier and Debbie Montgomery met with Victor Savage who made it very clear that the company understands it’s obligations and would not interfere with the workers' rights to be represented by a union. Victor assured us that there will be no interference or repercussions to anyone supporting the union.
Hundreds of drivers have said enough is enough, its time to concentrate on a new collective agreement and stop the division that only serves to benefit the employer.
New local
You will be joining 1300 school bus drivers at local 4268 along with President Debbie Montgomery, a school bus driver for over 28 years. Debbie has elevated the school bus industry for all drivers through decades of bargaining, lobbying government and advocating for drivers at every opportunity. Debbie’s knowledge at the bargaining table with large school bus employers like Stock Transportation and First Student and now Parkview/STC, is unmatched and Debbie is excited to sit down with you to get an amazing second agreement.
In addition, Len Poirier will be joining your team to negotiate a new collective agreement. Len is the director of road transportation for Unifor and is no stranger to the school bus industry. In fact, Len has been negotiating collective agreements in school busing for decades alongside Debbie
Over the next week we will be sharing news about the election process, sharing bargaining surveys and confirming dates for our next Town Hall meetings, all to get us ready for this critical set of negotiations. Please continue to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

ਵਾਅਦੇ ਮੁਤਾਬਕ ਪਿਛਲੇ ਚਾਰ ਹਫਤਿਆਂ ਦੌਰਾਨ ਉਠਾਏ ਗਏ ਮੁੱਦਿਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਤੌਖਲਿਆਂ ਉੱਤੇ ਅਸਰ ਪਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਤਬਦੀਲੀਆਂ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਖਤ ਮਿਹਨਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ। ਅਸੀਂ ਧਿਆਨ ਨਾਲ ਸੁਣਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਆਰੰਭ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਦੱਸਦਿਆਂ ਅੱਜ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨਤਾ ਹੋ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਾਰਕਵਿਊ ਟਰਾਂਜ਼ਿਟ ਦੇ ਸਾਡੇ ਮੈਂਬਰ ਲੋਕਲ 4268 – ਜੋ ਓਨਟੇਰੀਓ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਕੂਲ ਬੱਸਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੀ ਲੋਕਲ ਹੈ – ਵਿੱਚ ਰਲ਼ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ। ਸ਼ੁਕਰਵਾਰ, 29 ਜਨਵਰੀ ਨੂੰ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ-ਦਾਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਸੌਦੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਦਾ ਨੋਟਿਸ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਇਸ ਹਫਤੇ ਅਸੀਂ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਨਵੀਂ ਸੌਦੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ (ਬਾਰਗੇਨਿੰਗ) ਕਮੇਟੀ ਲਈ ਨਾਮਜ਼ਦਗੀਆਂ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰਾਂਗੇ।
ਸੌਦੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਦੇ ਮੁੱਦੇ ਨੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਫੜਨਾ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ-ਸਥਲ ’ਤੇ ਇਹ ਚਰਚਾ ਦਾ ਵਿਸ਼ਾ ਹੈ। ਤੁਸੀਂ ਸਾਡੀ ਨਿਰਾਸ਼ਾ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਮਝ ਸਕਦੇ ਹੋਵੋਂਗੇ ਜਦੋਂ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਪਤਾ ਲੱਗਣ ਲੱਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਛੋਟਾ ਜਿਹਾ ਦਲ ਹਾਲੇ ਵੀ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਨ ਰੱਦ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਇੱਕ ਨਵੀਂ ਅਰਜ਼ੀ ’ਤੇ ਦਸਤਖ਼ਤ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਦਬਾਅ ਪਾਉਣਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖ ਰਿਹਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਹ ਧਮਕੀ ਵੀ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਜਾ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਜੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਦਸਤਖਤ ਨਾ ਕੀਤੇ ਤਾਂ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ-ਦਾਤਾ ਕੋਲ ਸ਼ਿਕਾਇਤ ਲਾਈ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ। ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਕਾਬਿਲੇ-ਬਰਦਾਸ਼ਤ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਯੂਨੀਫੋਰ ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਸਹੇਗੀ।
ਸੋਮਵਾਰ ਨੂੰ ਯੂਨੀਫੋਰ ਦੇ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਸ ਮੈਕਡੋਨਾਲਡ (ਜੋ ਯੂਨੀਫੋਰ ਦੇ ਕੌਮੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਜੈਰੀ ਡਿਆਸ ਦੇ ਸਹਾਇਕ ਹਨ) ਲੈਨ ਪੋਇਰੀਏ ਅਤੇ ਡੈਬੀ ਮਿੰਟਗੁਮਰੀ ਨਾਲ ਰਲ਼ ਕੇ ਵਿਕਟਰ ਸੈਵੇਜ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲੇ ਜਿਸ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਗੱਲ ਸਪਸ਼ਟ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਕਿ ਕੰਪਨੀ ਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੀਆਂ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀਆਂ ਦਾ ਪਤਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਕਰਮਚਾਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਨੁਮਾਇੰਦਗੀ ਕੀਤੇ ਜਾਣ ਦੇ ਹੱਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਦਖਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਦੇਵੇਗੀ। ਵਿਕਟਰ ਨੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਭਰੋਸਾ ਦਵਾਇਆ ਕਿ ਯੂਨੀਅਨ ਦੀ ਹਿਮਾਇਤ ਕਰਨ ਬਦਲੇ ਕੋਈ ਦਖਲਅੰਦਾਜ਼ੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਹੋਵੇਗੀ ਅਤੇ ਨਾ ਹੀ ਕਿਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਨਤੀਜੇ ਭੁਗਤਣੇ ਪੈਣਗੇ।
ਸੈਂਕੜੈ ਹੀ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਹੁਣ ਬਥੇਰਾ ਹੋ ਲਿਆ। ਹੁਣ ਵਕਤ ਨਵੇਂ ਕੁਲੈਕਟਿਵ ਐਗਰੀਮੈਂਟ ਦਾ, ਅਤੇ ਅਜਿਹੀ ਫੁੱਟ ਨੂੰ ਰੋਕਣ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਫਾਇਦਾ ਸਿਰਫ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ-ਦਾਤਾ ਨੁੰ ਹੀ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਵੀਂ ਲੋਕਲ
ਲੋਕਲ 4268, ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ 28 ਸਾਲਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਵੱਧ ਸਮੇਂ ਲਈ ਸਕੂਲ ਬੱਸ ਚਲਾਉਣ ਵਾਲੀ ਡੈਬੀ ਮਿੰਟਗੁਮਰੀ ਹੈ, ਵਿੱਚ ਤੁਸੀਂ 1,300 ਸਕੂਲ ਬੱਸ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਰਲ਼ੋਂਗੇ। ਡੈਬੀ ਨੇ ਸੌਦੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ, ਸਰਕਾਰ ’ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪਾ ਕੇ, ਅਤੇ ਹਰ ਮੋੜ ’ਤੇ ਡਰਾਈਵਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੱਖ ਦੀ ਵਕਾਲਤ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਸਕੂਲ ਬੱਸ ਉਦਯੋਗ ਦਾ ਰੁਤਬਾ ਵਧਾਇਆ ਹੈ। ਸਟੌਕ ਟਰਾਂਸਪੋਰਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਫਸਟ ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟ ਵਰਗੇ ਵੱਡੇ ਰੁਜ਼ਗਾਰ-ਦਾਤਾਵਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਹੁਣ ਪਾਰਕਵਿਊ/ਐੱਸ ਟੀ ਸੀ ਨਾਲ ਸੌਦੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਡੈਬੀ ਦਾ ਗਿਆਨ ਬੇਮਿਸਾਲ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਡੈਬੀ ਨੂੰ ਇਸ ਗੱਲ ਦਾ ਚਾਅ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇੱਕ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਇਕਰਾਰਨਾਮਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਉਹ ਤੁਹਾਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ-ਬੈਠੇਗੀ।
ਇਸ ਤੋਂ ਇਲਾਵਾ ਨਵੇਂ ਕੁਲੈਕਟਿਵ ਐਗਰੀਮੈਂਟ ਦੀ ਸੌਦੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਲਈ ਲੈਨ ਪੋਇਰੀਏ ਤੁਹਾਡੀ ਟੀਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਰਲਣਗੇ। ਲੈਨ ਯੂਨੀਫੋਰ ਦੇ ਰੋਡ ਟਰਾਂਸਪੋਰਟੇਸ਼ਨ ਦੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਬੱਸ ਉਦਯੋਗ ਦੇ ਭੇਤੀ ਹਨ। ਦਰਅਸਲ ਲੈਨ ਕਈ ਦਹਾਕਿਆਂ ਤੋਂ ਡੈਬੀ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਕੂਲ ਬੱਸ ਉਦਯੋਗ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੁਲੈਕਟਿਵ ਐਗਰੀਮੈਂਟਾਂ ਲਈ ਸੌਦੇਬਾਜ਼ੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਰਹੇ ਹਨ।
