Thank you to everyone who has signed up for Unifor updates and to those who have already signed membership cards. Your support and engagement have made a powerful impact. Interest in joining Unifor is high, and we’re off to a strong start, but our work isn’t finished yet. To truly make a difference, we need more of your coworkers to join us. Every additional membership strengthens our collective voice and brings us closer to filing for union recognition with the labour board. So please, continue to speak with others about signing a Unifor membership card.

The Path to Unionization

Here’s how the unionization process works. First, workers need to sign a confidential Unifor membership card. To ensure a strong start, we aim for around sixty-five percent support from the workplace. Once we reach that goal, we’ll file an application with the labour board. Next, the labour board will order a secret ballot vote in the workplace, typically held about five days after filing. If a majority of workers who cast a ballot vote in favor of unionization, the labour board will issue certification.

Once certified, we’ll elect a bargaining committee from DYNA-MIG workers like you. This committee will represent your concerns and priorities directly. Unifor National and Local representatives will then work with the bargaining committee to negotiate a collective agreement with the employer that reflects what you want in your workplace. Signing a membership card is an important step in this process, and we don’t want anyone left behind.

Get Involved with the Inside Organizing Team

To keep building momentum, we need a strong team on the inside. If you’re interested in actively supporting the campaign, consider joining our inside organizing team. This group will help us continue mapping out the workplace and determining the exact number of employees in each department. Every bit of knowledge and insight helps us strengthen our efforts, so please reach out if you’d like to get involved in this crucial work.

Complete Your Membership Card

If you’ve signed up for membership updates but didn’t fully complete your Adobe digital membership card, now is the time to take that next step. Completing your membership card ensures that your support is counted toward reaching the majority we need to make unionization a reality. Let’s make sure that everyone who wants to see a positive change has their voice counted.

Over at F&P Manufacturing, your sister company, negotiations are already underway with Unifor. F&P members have recently provided feedback through a bargaining survey, outlining what they hope to see in their first collective agreement. At DYNA-MIG, once your unionized, you will have the same opportunity to shape your future by putting forward your own objectives, which Unifor will negotiate with your employer in a legally binding agreement.

Getting involved and spreading the word is crucial to building our collective strength. Talk to your coworkers, share your own experiences, and let’s keep the momentum going. Together, we can make DYNA-MIG a better, fairer workplace for everyone.
