When workers join Unifor, they pool their resources to ensure they have a strong collective voice in the workplace. Union dues make this possible.

What are union dues?

Union dues are a regular contribution from members that funds the union’s ability to represent workers. With dues, Unifor provides professional services at both the local and national level—ensuring members have the tools, resources, and expertise they need.

How much are union dues?

  • Dues are 1.35% of your gross monthly income, whether part-time or full-time.

  • Not collected on tips, bonuses, or shift premiums.

  • No dues while on workers’ compensation, leave of absence, maternity/parental leave, or sick leave.

  • 100% tax-deductible.

How are dues used?

Pooling our resources allows us to:

  • Negotiate and enforce strong collective agreements.

  • Provide access to legal services, pension and benefits expertise, and health & safety support.

  • Offer training and education for members.

  • Coordinate campaigns and advocacy that strengthen workers’ rights across the country.

What do dues look like in practice?

Union dues are $1.35 per $100.00

That’s significantly less than many employers claim. The improvements in wages, benefits, and workplace protections far outweigh the small cost of dues.
