Uni-Select
Welcome to the organizing campaign at Uni-Select. We can't wait to have you united with 315,000 workers from every major sector of the economy.
At its core, Unifor holds the fundamental belief that you and every person of working age in Canada has a right to a good job and the benefits to economic progress. Unions provide workers with an advantage; they give workers a voice and a real way to make improvements to their working conditions.
We have been speaking with workers over the last few weeks and can happily share that momentum is building. We’re excited that workers will soon have their voices heard as they move together united in their efforts to have real representation from Unifor.
We‘ve spoken to workers to get a better understanding of your particular workplace issues. Some of these issues are outlined below:
- Health and Safety
- Workload
- Job security
- Wages
- Favouritism
- Mismanagement
Many of you have told us that more recently working conditions at Uni-Select have taken a turn for the worse. We strongly believe that you and your colleagues deserve better, and we represent a union that fights for every person’s right to a secure job in a healthy work environment.
WHY UNIFOR
Unifor is the largest private-sector union in Canada; we represent 315,000 workers right across the country in every sector of the economy including thousands of workers in warehousing and distribution facilities just like yours. Having that level of representation across the sector gives us tremendous bargaining strength and unparalleled insight into the sector as a whole. Unifor also represents dozens of Uni-Select members in Quebec who have successfully bargained far better working conditions because of the strength of their union. You deserve the same.
With a Union, workers gain the right to collectively negotiate a legally binding collective agreement that builds improvements on important things such as scheduling, wages, benefits, language to eliminate favouritism, job posting, hours of work and most importantly, a grievance procedure giving you the LEGAL RIGHT to challenge unfair or unjust company policies.
YOUR RIGHTS
You have the right to form a union free of intimidation or undue influence. This means you can converse with Unifor organizers and ask any questions you may have. You can also speak with co-workers about joining Unifor during break periods, as well as before and after work.
WHAT IS THE PROCESS
We know you are anxiously looking forward to finally getting the representation you deserve.
Signing a membership card is just the first step to getting Union representation. By signing a membership card, it gives us the evidence we need to show enough workers at Uni-Select support having a Union. Membership cards are 100% confidential. Your employer will never know who has signed a card.
