Vote Details
Today the Ontario Labour Relations Board (OLRB) ordered an electronic vote to take place Wednesday, April 5th, 2023 at 2:00 PM and end on Thursday, April 6th at 2:00 PM.
This is a secret ballot vote and no one will be able to see how you cast your ballot!
Who Conducts The Vote?
The Ontario Labour Relations Board conducts the vote, they work with an independent, impartial provider who is experienced and has conducted votes for other Unions, Government Agencies, Municipalities, and Political Parties.
The process and the system are the same as an in-person vote, it’s completely confidential.
How Does It Work?
Voters will have a choice to cast their secret ballot either by phone or online.
Eligible voters will receive instructions and a personal identification number ("PIN") by email before the vote starts. The PIN is strictly for personal use and must not be shared. A valid PIN is required to vote.
A ballot is provided either on a recorded message on the phone or on the computer/mobile device screen. The question on the ballot will be:
"In your employment relations with your Employer, do you wish to be represented by the Union?"
Even if you didn't sign a union card, you still have the right to vote YES for Unifor.
The Help Desk
Voters can call the Help Desk at (416) 326-7432 if they have questions or encounter any issues with the e-voting process.
OLRB Help Desk Hours of Operation:
April 5th, 2023 - 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
April 6th, 2023 - 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM
If necessary, leave a detailed message with your full name, contact information, and OLRB case number and a Labour Relations Officer will respond to your message as soon as possible.
The Help Desk typically is staffed by a Board Vote Officer and is open for a period of time each day the poll is open. Individuals who call the Help Desk will be asked to verify their identity. Once verified, the Help Desk may assist voters with a variety of issues. This can include when an individual did not receive an email or they misplaced their PIN.
