We are pleased to announce that your unit has been integrated into Unifor Local 1285. This local is structured as an “amalgamated union” and comprises 25 units along with a retirees’ chapter.

Bargaining Committee Elections:

With your contact details now in hand, we are set to begin the election of your Bargaining Committee Representatives. This committee of your colleagues, elected right from your workplace, will spearhead the negotiations for your first contract. They are committed to ensuring that your voices are amplified and your priorities well-represented. Once in place, they will collaborate closely with local and national Unifor staff to champion your interests during the bargaining process.

In the coming days, nominations will open for you to nominate yourself or another person. At the end of the nomination period, those nominated will be asked to confirm their intent to stand in the election.

A separate email with instructions will be sent explaining the Bargaining Committee Elections process and positions.

Local Union Representatives:

Post-negotiation of the collective agreement, you will choose additional workplace representatives, such as Stewards, Committee Persons, and Health and Safety officers, among others. These roles will be outlined in your collective agreement, and elections for these positions will be scheduled following its ratification.

Looking ahead, you can anticipate regular updates, crucial announcements, and tailored resources designed to align with our collective interests and concerns. Your active feedback and involvement are crucial in guiding our union's direction and safeguarding your rights and interests.
